A 39-year-old Fresno man was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train Sunday night.

The incident happened just before 8:30 p.m., in the area of Safford and Santa Fe avenues. According to the Amtrak schedule, the northbound San Joaquin train would have left from the downtown Fresno station minutes earlier.
