A major injury car accident snarled traffic on Highway 99 near Ashlan Avenue on Sunday morning.

Few details were immediately available, but a small sedan appeared to have crashed into the rear end of a tractor-trailer around 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway, according to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic incident page.

All lanes of traffic were blocked for a time by the truck and the car crash. Officers eventually rerouted cars through the center divider.

Officers were still on the scene two hours later.
