Fresno man identified as victim in fatal collision with fence post near Highway 180
A Fresno man has been identified as the person killed in a collision with a fence post near an on-ramp to Highway 180 Tuesday night.
The Fresno County Coroner’s office said Tou Vue, 29, was killed when in the collision in his Hyundai Genesis at East Kings Canyon Road and Temperance Avenue, near Highway 180.
California Highway Patrol Sgt. Nick Ranger said the crash happened at 8:43 p.m., when Vue was driving his vehicle at a high rate of speed. Ranger said it appeared Vue thought he was on Highway 180 or didn’t realize the road was ending when he collided with a fence post that dislodged and impaled him.
The vehicle continued and collided with a concrete culvert, causing it to go airborne. The Hyundai then mounted on the embankment on the south side of Highway 180 and overturned after hitting the ground again before it came to rest on the south embankment on eastbound Highway 180, east of Temperance.
Vue was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither alcohol or drugs appear to be a factor in the crash, the CHP said.
