One dead in motorcycle crash with deer in Fresno County mountains, CHP says

A man died from a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon in Fresno County after colliding with a deer, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP said the crash happened at 3:25 p.m., on Courtright Way, south of Courtright Reservoir in the Shaver Lake area.

CHP spokesman Mike Salas on Wednesday said the 67-year-old man was riding his Harley Davidson north on Courtright Way, approaching a curve in the roadway.

As the rider traveled through the curve, a deer was standing or crossing the roadway directly in his path. The motorcycle collided with the deer and the rider was ejected from the motorcycle.

The rider and deer died at the scene, Salas said.

Drugs or alcohol don’t appear to be a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
