Woman pedestrian killed by train in downtown Fresno

UPDATE: The Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday identified the victim as Ella Mikel, 62, whom the office said was homeless in Fresno.

ORIGINAL STORY: A woman who may have been homeless was struck and killed by a freight train early Wednesday in downtown Fresno.

The fatal collision took place just before 8 a.m. at Mono Street just west of H Street, police reported.

Officers were investigating whether the collision was an accident or a suicide.

The identity of the victim, as well as her age, was not immediately known.
