Woman went into a restroom at a Fresno park and came out stabbed, police say

A disturbance between a man and a woman Wednesday evening led to a stabbing at a city park restroom in southeast Fresno, police said.

Officers arrived around 7:30 p.m. at East Lane and South Willow avenues to Pilibos Soccer Park to find a woman stabbed in her stomach.

She was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center and is expected to be OK, Fresno Police Lt. Tim Tietjen said.

Tietjen said several transients were camped out at the park when the pair went inside the bathroom.

Witnesses told officers the woman came out of the bathroom yelling that she had been stabbed.

The man, described to be mid-height with long hair and a gray hoodie, fled the scene toward a shopping center.

Anyone with information is asked to call Fresno police at 559-621-7000.
