Pedestrian struck and killed in daylight Fresno crash. The driver took off
A 73-year-old Fresno man walking along Elm Avenue was killed in a hit-and-run Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The dead man was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Jesus Espinoza.
The hit-and-run happened around 5 p.m. between North and Central avenues just south of Fresno city limits when a 2010-2013 silver Toyota Corolla struck Espinoza while he walked southbound along the shoulder of the road, CHP spokesman Mike Salas said.
Salas said the vehicle’s right front bumper may have damage and the right-side mirror could be missing.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the hit-and-run. CHP officers were canvassing the area and looking at surveillance video.
Anyone with information is asked to call CHP at 559-262-0400.
