A woman was stabbed in the torso multiple times by her husband at a northeast Fresno hotel, police said.

Police responded to The Country Inn Suites at 6065 N. Thesta Ave. for a report of a domestic disturbance around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police found the woman with stab wounds, allegedly made by the husband with a pocket knife.

The woman was transported to a local hospital and underwent surgery. Her status was not known, police said.

Police said the suspect took several pills after the incident and was taken to the hospital for observation.

The man, identified as Navdeep Dhami of Yuba City, was booked into Fresno County Jail on an attempted murder charge.

The investigation is ongoing.
