Woman, 18, survived first wreck but killed in second Kingsburg crash on Highway 99

An 18-year-old Ivanhoe woman was killed late Thursday night when two cars crashed into her wrecked 2006 Honda on Highway 99 in Kingsburg, the California Highway Patrol reported.

She was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Cecilia Aguilera.

The chain of events started about 10:40 p.m. Aguilera was southbound on 99 south of Sierra Street when she lost control and slammed into a concrete barrier wall. She remained in the Honda waiting for emergency services and about two minutes later, a 28-year-old man, identified as Daniel Ismael Sanchez, 24, of Visalia, slammed into the Honda in a Toyota Corolla.

Moments later, a 2011 Chevrolet Impala driven by Santiago Aguilar Galicio, 28, of Fresno ran into the cars.

Aguilera was extricated from the crash and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.

Sanchez and Aguilar Galicio suffered minor injuries, as did two children in Aguilar Galicio’s car.

CHP said neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected as factors in the crashes.

It was the second fatal crash in four days in the vicinity. On Sunday, an 11-year-old Delhi girl was killed in a fiery multi-vehicle crash on northbound 99 north of Kingsburg.
