Two drivers arrested on DUI suspicion after one crashes into Fresno business, police say

Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI after one vehicle crashed into the front of a North Blackstone Avenue business, Fresno police said.

According to Lt. Tim Tietjen, just before 7 p.m. the driver of a Dodge Charger was traveling south on Blackstone approaching Bullard Avenue. Witnesses told officers the Charger was weaving in and out of traffic when it sideswiped another vehicle also traveling south.

The Charger then lost control and crashed into the front of Philips Barstools & Dinettes. The car’s engine started a small fire in the building. Fire crews immediately arrived and took control of the flames before they could spread to the rest of the building.

Tietjen said that the driver of the Charger suffered a major injury to his left leg while the other driver suffered minor injuries. Both drivers were arrested for suspicion of DUI.
