Man is killed after losing control of his motorcycle on Fresno street

A man was killed Thursday night in a solo motorcycle crash in southwest Fresno.

Witnesses told police that about 10 p.m., the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on California Avenue, approaching Lotus Avenue at a high rate of speed when he lost control and hit a curb.

The motorcycle went airborne and struck a power pole.

The man was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

He was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Corey Rawson, 31, of Fresno.

Lt. Tim Tietjen said the streets were to remain closed for at least eight hours as investigators take a look at the crash scene.
