CHP: One dead in car-vs.-truck collision at Fresno County Highway 41 intersection

A man died in a two-car crash on Highway 41 just west of Caruthers on Monday afternoon, California Highway Patrol said.

The victim was driving a Honda Civic west on South Avenue approaching the intersection at Highway 41 around 3:30 p.m. The CHP said as the driver crossed the intersection he entered into the lane going south in the path of a Ford truck. The truck was unable to stop or avoid colliding into the passenger side of the Honda, the CHP said.

The driver of the Honda was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts during the collision.

Drugs or alcohol were not involved, the CHP said.
