About 30,000 people have tested for coronavirus in Fresno County. Roughly 8.4% were infected

Fresno County has 69 additional cases of the coronavirus, its Department of Public Health reported Saturday.

That brings Fresno County’s total to 2,547 positive test results for COVID-19 since the region’s first case was reported March 6.

In addition, three more patients Saturday were listed as having been hospitalized at some point because of the coronavirus.

In all, Fresno County has had 261 hospitalizations.

That translates to a 10.25% hospitalization rate among those who’ve tested positive. About a month ago, the hospitalization rate was 14.35%.

The hospitalization rate does not reflect those who caught COVID-19 but never were tested.

Fresno County has received and processed a total of 30,436 test results through Saturday.

Among those who’ve been tested for the coronavirus in Fresno County, 8.4% were confirmed positive.

The county did not report any new deaths Saturday, leaving total fatalities at 52, second to Tulare County’s 98 in the six-county central San Joaquin Valley region.

Fresno County reported six more patients have recovered, raising that total to 764 for a recovery rate to date of 30%.
