The owner of a stolen Volkswagen used Apple AirPods inside to track the vehicle for police, California authorities reported.

On Saturday, Feb. 1, dispatchers received a call from a woman who said she was tracking her stolen Volkswagen via the AirPods, Irvine police said in a Feb. 3 news release.

Armed with its last location and a description of the vehicle, officers found the Volkswagen in a nearby shopping center parking lot, police said.

Officers found two men, ages 30 and 34, from Texas inside the vehicle and arrested them on charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and conspiracy, police said.

Apple AirPods are wireless earbuds that feature a tracking mode.

Irvine is about a 45-mile drive southeast from downtown Los Angeles.
