A busy Starbucks at Palm and Herndon avenues in northwest Fresno is closed.

What’s up with that?

No, the store isn’t closed permanently and the busy Dutch Bros Coffee across the street didn’t put it out of business.

The Starbucks, technically at 790 W. Palmdon Drive, is closed for remodeling.

It closed on Nov. 4 and is scheduled to reopen Tuesday, Nov. 16, according to an emailed statement from Starbucks.

The company didn’t say exactly what it was doing, other than to call it a “standard renovation.”

Last year, Starbucks announced it would spend 18 months renovating coffee shops nationwide, driven by changing habits and COVID-19.

At many stores, the company is beefing up its drive-thrus, installing curbside pickup options with designated parking spots, and adding separate counters for customers picking up mobile orders or delivery app drivers picking up drinks.
