Delicious Discoveries: Fresno company makes beef jerky in 13 flavors
A new Fresno company has launched a line of beef jerky that comes in 13 different flavors, from sweet to smoking hot.
Munch N’ Grub jumped into the jerky market about a year ago with its specialty brand of dried beef. Adam Sharp, sales manager for the family run company, says the company sets itself apart by using Harris Ranch beef brisket and marinating the strips of beef for nearly 24 hours.
“When you taste our jerky, it is tender and moist, not dry and tough,” Sharp says. “And you get so much flavor.”
The company is always developing new flavors and in varying degrees of spiciness. Among its best sellers is the American Whiskey, Mango Tango Jalapeno, Black Pepper & Sea Salt and The Meltdown.
“We can’t make enough of The Meltdown, it sells out all the time,” Sharp says. “I’ve only tried it once, and my nose starting running and my mouth felt like it was on fire. It was amazing.”
Sharp says the jerky is flavored with some of the most potent peppers in the world, including the Ghost Pepper, Trinidad Scorpion and Carolina Reaper.
For those who crave a more milder flavor, there is the Orange Teriyaki, the Garlicaholic and Old Western.
A three-ounce package sells for $6. Munch N’ Grub jerky can be found at several locations, including the Market on Kern, area convenience stores, R-N Market, and online at http://www.munchngrub.com.
