Rescue crews have recovered the body of an 84-year-old man who drowned at Millerton Lake on Sunday morning, said Ranger Supervisor Steve Barber.

The body was recovered by the Fresno County Sheriff Dive Team around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in a remote area of East Bay near Sky Harbour Road that was only accessible by boat.

The man was attempting to swim about 50 yards to a boat where friends and family were waiting when he went under around 10:50 a.m., Barber said.
