He was brushing his teeth when he slipped and drowned in Fresno canal
A homeless man was apparently brushing his teeth when he slipped into a central Fresno canal and drowned , Fresno police reported.
Lt. David Madrigal of the department’s Street Violence Bureau on Tuesday said homicide detectives investigating the death have found “no foul play that we can tell.”
The victim’s body was pulled from the canal at McKinley and Millbrook avenues Monday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the canal at 1:30 p.m. after a passerby saw the body. A rescue operation launched by a dive team quickly turned into a recovery operation after it was determined the man had died in the cold, fast-moving water.
Madrigal said it is routine for homicide detectives to go to the scene of such a death.
The victim’s identity has not been released by the Fresno County coroner.
