‘Be about it’ Why Davante Adams is upset after the Raiders lost to the Steelers
Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams wants to see immediate results now — in the win column.
The former Fresno State star vented Sunday night after the Raiders lost to the Steelers 23-18 at Allegiant Stadium to drop to 1-2.
“It’s Week 3, but I don’t have time to wait around,” Adams said. “It’s not a personal thing. I mean, it is a personal thing, but it’s just not about me. It’s not my mentality to sit here and try to take all season and figure it out.
“You use these early games like this to establish our identity. We’re not doing things the right way to establish a winning culture early in the season. We got to do something to turn that around.”
Adams finished the game with two touchdowns, but he rather have that with the Raiders winning and said “it’s tough because this is really a good team” and “we have a lot of potential.”
“We have the players,” he said. “We just have to figure out how to play together on both sides of the ball and stop putting ourselves in such tough to overcome positions.”
Adams fielded several questions in the Raiders locker room, wondering why the Raiders lost another close one, in which Raiders coach Josh McDaniels was questioned why he went for a field goal trailing 23-15 late in the fourth quarter.
The Raiders acquired Adams in a trade with the Green Bay Packers last March, in hopes of getting to the Super Bowl.
It’s been trying time in Las Vegas for Adams, who also saw his best friend Derek Carr get released earlier this year.
“We got to obviously as a staff, defense and offense, special team to help us move the ball as best as possible,” he said.
“When we get a call, regardless of what it is, we got to go out there and execute. I love my teammates and I believe in each and every man in this locker at the end of the day, it’s about accountability.”
Adams added “that’s the theme of this year is doing it; not just talking about it and figuring out what we need to do. We did all that last year. This year, we got to be about it.”
