Raiders don’t get Jake Haener, but Saints do in NFL Draft. He’ll be with Derek Carr
At some point on the third and final day of the NFL draft, the Las Vegas Raiders are likely to draft a quarterback.
The question is who and when?
The best available quarterback entering the day, according to ESPN, was former Fresno State star Jake Haener.
Would the Raiders draft another Bulldogs quarterback?
Not the case as he was selected by the New Orleans Saints in Round 4. He’ll join former Raiders QB and fellow Bulldogs alum Derek Carr.
Carr played nine seasons with the Raiders before he was released in March. He then signed with the Saints.
Haener continued to add to his regular-season feats by playing in the Senior Bowl and then going to the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. He was at Fresno State Pro Day and Raiders offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi was at Valley Children’s Stadium to see him.
The Raiders had two picks in the fourth round, but traded up to select cornerback Jakorian Bennett. The Raiders, however, got back into the fourth round and did select a quarterback. It was Aidan O’Connell of Purdue.
