Following Derek Carr’s social media post Thursday morning in which he said farewell to Raider Nation, fans reacted to the former Fresno State star’s announcement.

Here are some of the responses:

Carr thanked the organization, teammates and fans for the nine seasons he’s been with the Silver and Black. The team appears all but certain to move on from Carr after a disappointing 2022 season that saw the Raiders finish 6-11 and miss the playoffs.

Carr was selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft when then-general manager Reggie McKenzie made the pick.

He finishes his tenure with the Raiders as the team’s career leader in passing yards (35,222), touchdowns (217) and completions (3,201). Carr also had 28 fourth-quarter comebacks and 33 game-winning drives.

Where will Carr go next? The Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tennessee Titans and the Washington Commanders are among the teams that come to mind.

The Raiders have until Feb. 15 to find a trade partner or the team will release him to avoid the $40 million commitment remaining on his contract.

The offseason will be interesting in Henderson, Nevada, because the Raiders first will have to figure out what to do with Carr and then decide how to pick their next quarterback either through free agency or the draft.

Raiders Nation hopes this doesn’t end up as a repeat of the quarterback carousel that preceded Carr’s arrival.
