Derek Carr is inactive again for a second straight week for the Raiders vs. Chiefs
Derek Carr is inactive for a second straight week.
That is not a surprise since the announcement, via coach Josh McDaniels, that Carr will be benched for the final two games of the NFL season.
The Raiders’ social media team listed the inactives and Carr was at the top of the list.
Carr had not missed a regular-season start since the 2017 season.
Jarrett Stidham got the start after a big game against the NFL’s top-ranked defense in the 49ers when he passed for 365 yards and three touchdowns against two interceptions in a 37-34 loss in overtime.
If Carr were to get injured in the final two games, then his $33 million contract and $7.5 million would be guaranteed. The Raiders have a decision to make to keep Carr by Feb. 15 before his contract is guaranteed.
Carr had started 92 consecutive games, including last season’s AFC wild-card game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Carr started 142 out of a possible 144 regular-season games in his nine seasons with the Raiders.
Other Raiders listed inactive: WR Chris Lacy, RB Brittain Brown, G Netane Muti, LB Darien Butler, DT Matthew Butler, DE Tashawn Bower.
