Raiders post inactives vs. 49ers and list Derek Carr. Fan reactions on social media follow

For the first time in what seems like forever, Derek Carr was listed as inactive before Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

That was a formality after the Raiders’ announcement, via coach Josh McDaniels, earlier in the week that Carr will be benched for the final two games of the NFL season.

The Raiders’ social media team listed the inactives and Carr was at the top of the list, and fans admittedly still found it weird to see the former Fresno State star among those not playing.

Carr had not missed a regular-season start since the 2017 season.

Others were happy that Carr is not around the team anymore.

Jarrett Stidham got the start against the NFL’s top-ranked defense in the 49ers, with Chase Garbers listed as the backup.

If Carr were to get injured in the final two games, then his $33 million contract and $7.5 million in 2024 would be guaranteed. The Raiders have a decision to make to keep Carr by Feb. 10 before his contract is guaranteed.

Carr had started 92 consecutive games, including last season’s AFC wild-card game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Carr started 142 out of a possible 144 regular-season games in his nine seasons with the Raiders.

The last time Carr was inactive was in Week 5 in 2017 against the Baltimore Ravens because of a back injury he suffered the week before against the Denver Broncos.
