The Raiders left Oakland for Las Vegas. Will their games still be aired in Fresno?
Las Vegas Raiders fans in the central San Joaquin Valley wondering if games will be shown on local television this season can relax.
Raiders games will continue to be shown on the local CBS affiliate when games are available, said J.R. Jackson, the vice president/general manager of KSEE 24/CBS 47.
“CBS is still the home of the AFC and Fresno is a key market for the Raiders,” Jackson said. “We will do our best to carry every Raider game that is made available to us by CBS.”
The Raiders moved to Las Vegas after playing the past 25 seasons in Oakland.
Those Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders games were shown on KSEE 24 (NBC had the AFC package). CBS 47 has shown Raiders games since 1998 when CBS bought the AFC package.
While the Los Angeles Chargers could have been an alternative, Jackson said showing the Raiders makes more sense because the Fresno area “is more of a Raiders market.”
The Raiders also have two Sunday night games, which will be shown on KSEE 24. Those games are against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 25 and Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 22, both at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Those kickoffs are scheduled for 5:20 p.m., but both games are subject to the NFL’s flex scheduling policy.
The Raiders’ home opener is against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 21. That game will be aired on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.”
The Raiders’ season opener is Sept. 13 in Charlotte, N.C. against the Carolina Panthers. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. on KGPE-47.1.
Other Raiders games will also be shown on ESPN and FOX 26.
