Raiders’ Derek Carr answers how he’ll handle Jon Gruden’s fiery coaching
Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden has been known to be tough on his quarterbacks.
Will that faze Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.?
No, says Carr, who says he had his share of being yelled at by his former Fresno State coaches Pat HIll, Jeff Grady, Tim DeRuyter and Dave Schramm.
“I’ve been m’fed more than a handful of times,” Carr told the audience at the Inside the Huddle on Feb. 17. “‘Why would you make those decisions?’ It’s happened multiple times. I’m where I’m at because I listen to those guys. To put that to bed, I think It’s going to be quite easy to deal with.”
Gruden was introduced as the Raiders coach in January. He showed his admiration for Carr at his news conference.
“Coach Gruden is an amazing human being,” Carr said. “Grateful man who I love. In the past month, he told me he loves me 50 times. When you have someone with his credentials telling you he loves you … he’s saying those things to make me feel great and I’ll do whatever I can to make him great."
