Marshawn Lynch shows ‘Beast Mode’ form in Raiders’ victory over Giants
Marshawn Lynch came ready to play, and that was good news for the Oakland Raiders.
Bad news for the New York Giants.
With Oakland playing without starting wide receivers Michael Crabtree (one-game suspension) and Amari Cooper (injury), Lynch rushed 17 times for 101 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders’ 24-17 victory over the Giants at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on Sunday. It was Lynch’s first 100-yard game this season.
“I looked at the stats, I said ‘Oh, he’s still got it,’ ” Raiders linebacker NaVorro Bowman said. “To see him running the way that he’s running for many years, I know exactly what the defense is facing. That’s a hard tackle.”
It didn’t take long for Lynch to score when he found a hole and rumbled for a 51-yard touchdown with 12:26 left in the first quarter.
The Raiders put away the game when Derek Carr connected on a 9-yard touchdown pass to Johnny Holton with 3:23 remaining.
The win evens the Raiders’ record at 6-6, tied with the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers for first place in the AFC West with four games remaining.
Oakland visits Kansas City on Dec. 10.
“When he came from the suspension, I’ve seen a little more pep in the step,” said Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio of Lynch. “I can’t speak for him, I just know what I see. It’s been good. I welcome it, and we’re taking full advantage of it.”
