What does Derek Carr expect when the Raiders face the Cowboys in an exhibition?

If you think the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys are going to show much when they meet in Saturday’s exhibition game, you can forget about it.

The teams meet again in Week 15 (Dec. 17) in Oakland. Sure, that’s a long time from now, but don’t tell that to Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

If Carr had it his way, he would like to play exhibition games against teams the Raiders will not face during the regular season.

“You go into a game against Dallas, they’re going to be basic,” he said this week. “We’re going to be basic, because you play each other in the regular season. Everyone knows that. It’s not a secret. I’m not giving anything away. That’s just how it is.”

During the 2016 exhibition season, the Raiders hosted the Tennessee Titans. The teams met again in Week 3 when Oakland won 17-10.

Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said it will be “a little different” Saturday night.

“We will have seen a lot of each other on tape,” he said. “I don’t know that’s as big of an issue as it was maybe against Tennessee where we played them early.”

Carr said it’s just an exhibition but “you try to win.” But in this case, it’s a little different for the four-year pro quarterback from Fresno State.

“At the same time,” he said, “you’re more focused on playing them in the regular season than you are in the preseason.”
