What does Raiders’ Derek Carr think of the Colin Kaepernick situation?

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick still hasn’t landed on an NFL team.

Puzzled by all this is Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who praised Kaepernick.

“I know this: he’s a talented football player,” Carr said Friday from Napa. “The times I’ve talked to Colin … he’s a great person. I’ve enjoyed it.”

Last season, Kaepernick sat and took a knee during the national anthem, and many have speculated that his inability to land with an NFL team this season is rooted in last year’s protest. The 49ers parted ways with Kaepernick after six seasons, including a trip to the Super Bowl in 2013.

The Baltimore Ravens have been linked to Kapernick recently, but no deal is imminent.

Carr said he’s surprised Kaepernick is still a free agent. “But there’s a lot guys out there unsigned,” Carr said. “There must be something else there. Thank goodness I don’t make those decisions. I just try to complete passes.”

Carr’s Fresno State career crossed with Kaepernick’s time at Nevada in the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

“I wish him the best and I hope he gets signed. I really do,” Carr said. “I don’t know if he wants to play and all that stuff but if he does I really hope he gets signed because I feel like as a football player he can help a football team.”
