Grizzlies Report for July 17: Fresno 2, New Orleans 0
Sunday recap – Brad Peacock delivered another shutout start and solo homers from Alex Bregman and Tyler White saw the Fresno Grizzlies edge New Orleans 2-0 and split the series in Sunday’s finale at Zephyr Field. Peacock gave up just two hits and two walks while striking out nine batters in 7 2/3 innings to improve to 4-4 with a 4.34 ERA. James Hoyt stranded a pair of runners with two outs in the eighth and retired the side in order in the ninth to pick up his Pacific Coast League-leading 23rd save of the season. Teoscar Hernandez singled twice to extend his hit streak to 10 games, becoming the fourth Grizzlies player this season with a hit in at least 10 straight.
Up next – Fresno RH Brady Rodgers (8-3, 2.88) will face LH Eric Jokisch (4-6, 4.98) as the Grizzlies open a four-game series against the Round Rock Express on Monday. First pitch is 5:05 p.m. Rodgers, who was a Triple-A All-Star selection, has won eight of his previous nine starts. Jokisch will make his Express debut after being traded last week from the Marlins to the Rangers in exchange for infielder Pedro Ciriaco. It is the second of three visits to Texas by the Grizzlies, and the closest they will be to Houston this year.
Pitch men – The Grizzlies hold three of the lowest five ERAs in the PCL: Mike Hauschild (second, 2.81), Brady Rodgers (third, 2.88) and Cesar Valdez (fifth, 3.19).
