Grizzlies Report for July 9: Fresno takes doubleheader against Reno

Saturday recap – Brad Peacock was lights-out, fanning a Fresno Grizzlies’ season-best 12 batters in a 5-0 shutout against the Reno Aces in game 1 of a doubleheader at Chukchansi Park. Peacock (3-4, 4.73) allowed just three hits and walked one in the seven-inning contest for his first win in three starts, and third quality start of the season. Jon Singleton and Tyler White hit two-run doubles in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, to open the scoring. In game 2, Max Stassi’s solo home run in the bottom of the sixth was the game-winner as the Grizzlies edged the Aces 4-3 to win the series, thrree games to one. Teoscar Hernandez had one hit in each game to extend his hitting streak to six. James Hoyt gave up the game-tying run in the sixth to get tagged with a blown save, but made up for it by closing out the top of the seventh and also earn the win.

All-star break – The Fresno Grizzlies will take a four-day hiatus for the Triple-A All-Star break. Five Fresno players will participate in the festivities. Right-handers Mike Hauschild, Brady Rodgers and James Hoyt will represent the Grizzlies and the Pacific Coast League at the Triple-A All-Star Game in Charlotte, N.C. RH Joe Musgrove and shortstop Alex Bregman will play in the SiriusXM Futures Game in San Diego on Sunday. Chukchansi Park will be without baseball for nearly two weeks as the Grizzlies start the second half of the season with an eight-game trip at New Orleans on July 14-17 and Round Rock on July 18-21.

Smooth like butter – As the PCL reaches the midway point, the Grizzlies lead the league in fielding percentage at .986; making just 46 errors in 87 games entering Saturday.
