Grizzlies Report for June 8: Off day
Recap – Wednesday was a league-wide off day in the Pacific Coast League and most of the Grizzlies players were lined up for some recreation to enjoy a rare free day during the middle of a homestand. The Grizzlies won 7-1 in a Tuesday matinee at Chukchansi Park to salvage the finale of a four-game series against the El Paso Chihuahuas.
Up next – The Grizzlies open a four-game series against Salt Lake at 7:05 p.m. Thursday with Fresno LH Tommy Shirley (3-4, 4.19) facing Bees LH Nate Smith (3-2, 4.42). Shirley won his first three starts of the season but is winless over his past seven outings with four losses and three no-decisions.
Timmy time – After pitching five innings Tuesday in Reno before a crowd of 10,185 (third-largest in Reno Aces franchise history), Tim Lincecum is set to start Sunday’s game in downtown Fresno for Salt Lake as the former Giants star and one-time Grizzly finalizes his comeback to the major leagues from hip surgery after signing with the Angels three weeks ago.
