Grizzlies Report for May 26: Fresno 5, Oklahoma City 4

Recap – Nolan Fontana singled home a run and Danny Worth drove in two more with a double in a three-run fifth as Fresno surged into the lead, then hung on for a 5-4 win over Oklahoma City to complete a sweep of the four-game Pacific Coast League series. Preston Tucker homered, his first of the season, in the sixth to help offset the Dodgers’ two-run seventh. Brady Rodgers (3-3) was charged with four runs in 6.2 innings. Oklahoma City’s Zach Lee (6-2) pitched six innings and allowed all five Grizzlies runs on seven hits and two walks, though he did strike out eight. Lee had allowed nine runs in 26.1 innings in four previous May starts. Fresno’s James Hoyt regained a share of the PCL saves lead, allowing a hit but striking out two for his 10th of the season.

Missed you in Fresno – Oklahoma City pitcher Julio Urias was scratched from his start Thursday at Chukchansi Park so he can make his big-league debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday in New York against the Mets. The left-hander was 4-1 with a 1.10 ERA for Oklahoma City, where he has a 27-inning scoreless streak and 44 strikeouts in 41 innings. Urias will be the first 19-year-old to pitch for the Dodgers since fellow Mexican Fernando Valenzuela in September 1980.

Byrnes delayed – A home run derby hosted by MLB Network analyst and former Oakland A’s outfielder Eric Byrnes scheduled for Friday has been postponed until a future date. Other promotions still on tap this weekend: Fireworks and farmers market on Friday, Memorial Day weekend car show and beach cruiser/bike night on Saturday and a tribute to legendary Mexican ranchera singer Vicente “Chente” Fernández Gómez on Sunday.

Up next – Colorado Springs comes to Chukchansi Park for the opening game of a four-game series at 7:05 p.m. Friday. Grizzlies RH Mike Hauschild (3-5, 3.64) will look to break a personal two-game losing streak despite allowing just one earned run over 11.1 innings combined in his past two starts. The Sky Sox are scheduled to start Tyler Cravy (0-1, 4.60), a right-hander who has made six appearances with one start for the parent Milwaukee Brewers this season.
