Grizzlies Report for May 21: Fresno 7, Memphis 1

Saturday recap – Brady Rodgers allowed one run in 6  2/3 innings and Jon Singleton and Jon Kemmer hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning to send the Grizzlies to a 7-1 victory over Memphis at AutoZone Park. It was Fresno’s second victory of the four-game series after dropping the first four games of the trip.

K zone – With Rodgers striking out a career-high 11, the Grizzlies tied their season high for strikeouts in a game with 14. Josh Fields added two in 1  1/3 innings and Kevin Chapman had one in the ninth. Rodgers (2-3) allowed six hits and walked none in picking up his first win since May 4, and he now has 33 strikeouts in four starts this month.

HR zone – Singleton homered for a second straight game, giving him a club-best 10 to rank tied for third in the PCL.

Up next – Fresno wraps up its eight-games-in-nine-days trip with a 12:05 p.m. game Sunday at AutoZone Park. The Grizzlies will send out right-hander Mike Hauschild (3-4, 3.95 ERA) for his eighth start; the Redbirds had not announced their pitcher.

Homestand – The Grizzlies are back in Fresno on Monday for the opening game of a four-game series against Oklahoma City starting at 6:35 p.m. at Chukchansi Park. Colorado Springs is in town for a four-game series after that.
