Grizzlies Report for April 24: Reno 12, Fresno 7
Up next – Fresno Grizzlies LH Tommy Shirley (2-0, 0.00 ERA), the only starting pitcher in the Pacific Coast League who has not allowed a run this season, will take the mound against Reno Aces RH Matt Buschmann (0-1, 1.69). First pitch is 6:35 p.m. The Grizzlies will try to snap a season-worst four-game losing streak.
Sunday recap – Despite a grand slam from A.J. Reed, the Grizzlies could not keep up with the Aces offense in a 12-7 loss at the Aces Ballpark. The Grizzlies finished with 13 hits, including Reed’s first grand slam at Triple-A during the seventh inning. But the Aces had 12 hits and went 6 for 11 with runners in scoring position. Grizzlies starting pitcher Mike Hauschild was roughed up for the first time this season, surrendering nine runs off 10 hits and three walks. He did have five strikeouts.
A pair of hits – Reed, Colin Moran, Jon Singleton and Matt Duffy each had two hits. For Duffy, Sunday marked his first multi-hit game of the season. The Grizzlies, however, hit just 2 for 11 with runners in scoring position.
Saturday recap – Highly touted Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Archie Bradley limited Fresno to a run on six hits over six innings, leading Reno to a 5-3 win Saturday. Bradley struck out six and departed with the Aces up 5-1.
