Grizzlies Report for Aug. 25: Fresno splits doubleheader with Iowa

Tuesday recap: The Grizzlies lost the first game 3-2 but stormed back with a 7-3 win in the nightcap against the host Iowa Cubs to become the first Triple-A club to clinch its division.

Grizzlies on Wednesday: Having clinched the Pacific Coast League’s Pacific Northern division Tuesday, the Fresno Grizzlies now must just stay sharp through their final 13 games before next month’s playoffs, as well as produce individually for a potential September call-up. Grizzlies LH Brett Oberholtzer (7-3, 4.12 ERA), who could be one of the first players called up by the parent club Houston Astros when big-league rosters expand next month, gets the start against Cubs RH Carlos Pimentel (11-5, 2.98) in the series finale. Oberholtzer has a 2.54 ERA in his past four starts.

Stat of the day: 9 – Number of PCL teams that no longer exist or changed their names since the Grizzlies last won their division, during their inaugural season in 1998.
