Grizzlies Report for Aug. 17: Fresno 10, New Orleans 4
Monday recap: Tyler White homered and had six RBIs, and Jon Singleton and Alex Presley also went yard as the Grizzlies trounced the Zephyrs 10-4 before an announced crowd of 2,911 at Chukchansi Park. White finished 4 for 5, including a two-run homer in the first inning. Grizzlies catcher Max Stassi got his first three-hit outing of the season, going 3 for 5 to help Fresno finish with 15 hits. Dan Straily (10-6, 3.58 ERA) struck out eight while allowing two runs in seven innings to become the first Grizzlies pitcher to reach double-digit wins. Former Grizzlies pitcher Travis Blackley of the Zephyrs was roughed up for seven runs and seven hits.
Grizzlies on Tuesday: RH Mark Appel (2-2, 4.00 ERA), the top prospect with the Fresno Grizzlies, will look to continue his recent string of success when he takes the mound against the New Orleans Zephyrs. Appel has a 2.10 ERA in his past four starts and racked up 26 strikeouts in 252/3 innings. Triple-A batters are hitting .267 off him. Appel will face Zephyrs RH Blake Logan (0-2, 2.70), who will be making his fourth Triple-A start. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
