Grizzlies Report for Aug. 13: Fresno 10, Albuquerque 4
Thursday recap: Matt Duffy singled to help fuel a tiebreaking rally in the fourth, then smoked a three-run homer to break it open in the fifth as Fresno beat Albuquerque 10-4. Duffy finished with four RBIs, pushing his season total to 92. His career high for a season is 94 in 2013, when he drove in 84 in 100 games with Class-A Lancaster and 10 more in 24 games at Double-A Corpus Christi. Cleanup hitter Tyler White drove in three, giving him 31 in 34 games with the Grizzlies. The top three hitters in the lineup – Jonathan Villar, L. J. Hoes and Duffy –were a combined 8 for 16 and scored eight runs. Fresno has won 11 of 12.
Grizzlies on Friday: LH Brett Oberholtzer (5-3, 4.20 ERA), moved back a day in the rotation, is scheduled to face Albuquerque LH Aaron Laffey (2-3, 4.83) at 6:05 p.m. as the Grizzlies wrap up a four-game series and brief road trip. Oberholtzer has rolled through two August starts, winning both while allowing just one run in 14.1 innings. The club returns for an eight-game homestand that opens Saturday with the first of four against New Orleans, before Round Rock visits for a matchup of Pacific Coast League division leaders.
Roster move: RH Asher Wojciechowski was activated after his latest demotion from major league parent club Houston to make Thursday’s start against Albuquerque. RH Brady Rodgers was put on the Grizzlies’ temporary inactive list.
