Grizzlies Report for July 22: Fresno 12, Las Vegas 4
Thursday outlook: In a matchup of two Pacific Coast League divisional leaders, the Fresno Grizzlies will face the Las Vegas 51s for the final time this regular season. First pitch is 7:05 p.m. The series was tied at 7-7. Grizzlies RH Asher Wojciechowski (5-1, 4.89 ERA) will face 51s RH Dillon Gee (3-1, 6.59), who has spent the majority of the past five seasons in the majors while pitching for the New York Mets. Wojciechowski has won four times on the road and sports a 4.47 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 541/3 innings. Gee, who began the season with the Mets before he was sent to Triple-A near the end of June, has been hit hard while with the 51s. He has allowed 24 runs (21 earned) in 282/3 innings and served up two homers with batters hitting .328 against him.
Wednesday recap: Fresno jumped out to a 7-0 lead after five innings and never looked back, racking up 14 hits in a 12-4 win at Las Vegas. Joe Sclafani led the way, going 3 for 5 with four RBIs.
Stat of the day: Fresno’s Matt Duffy has climbed his way up the RBI chart, ranking second in the PCL with 69 and behind only Reno’s Jamie Romak (75).
