Grizzlies Report for July 20: Fresno 9, Las Vegas 2

Tuesday outlook: The second of a four-game series at Cashman Field, scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m., sees Fresno right-hander Brady Rodgers (8-4, 4.34) matched against Las Vegas right-hander Matt Bowman (6-10, 5.53). Each won in his last start against the opposition. Rodgers allowed one earned run over five innings when the Grizzlies beat the 51s 11-4 on June 18, then Bowman was the winning pitcher the next night after allowing four earned runs over 71/3 innings as Las Vegas won 11-5.

Monday recap: Domingo Santana — who saw his franchise-record 43-game on-base streak end with an 0-for-3 performance in the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader, taking a called third strike in his final at-bat — ripped a two-run single in his first at-bat against Las Vegas, part of a four-run first inning that carried the Grizzlies in the opener of an 11-game, 12-day road trip. Santana finished 2 for 5 with three RBIs, part of a 12-hit Fresno attack. The Grizzlies also received a strong start from Brett Oberholtzer, who allowed two runs over seven innings with seven strikeouts.

Stat of the day: 12 days before the Grizzlies return to Chukchansi Park, where they will play 25 of their final 37 games starting Aug. 1 as they chase the second Pacific Coast League playoff berth in franchise history.
