Grizzlies Report for July 5: Tacoma 7, Fresno 4

Sunday recap: The Grizzlies spotted the Rainiers a three-run lead before pulling ahead for the second straight day. But this time, the Grizzlies couldn’t maintain the lead as starting pitcher Luis Cruz coughed up seven runs en route to a 7-4 loss in front of an announced crowd of 4,949 at Chukchansi Park. Tacoma’s Stefen Romero, Carlos Rivero and Steve Baron each drove in two runs. Grizzlies catcher Max Stassi went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer for his eighth home run and third multi-hit game this season. The former prospect was hitting just .169 entering Sunday. Grizzlies first baseman Tyler White was placed in the cleanup spot and didn’t disappoint, going 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI in just his fourth Triple-A game.

Grizzlies on Monday: Fresno Grizzlies RH Brady Rodgers (6-4, 4.68 ERA) will face Tacoma Rainiers RH Forrest Snow (7-4, 2.24) with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Rodgers gave up three runs off five hits in 62/3 innings during his last outing.

Grizzlies player traded: Reliever Mitch Lambson was traded to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday in a minor league deal. Lambson, a 19th-round pick in 2011, was 0-0 with a 2.60 ERA in 13 outings with the Grizzlies.
