Grizzlies Report for May 25
Grizzlies today: The Fresno Grizzlies will send RH Asher Wojciechowski (2-0, 4.86 ERA) to the mound against Memphis Redbirds LH Tyler Lyons (3-1, 2.64). The first pitch is 7:05 p.m. at Chukchansi Park. Wojciechowski, who began the season with the parent club Houston Astros, has won his past two starts.
Monday recap: The Grizzlies suffered a 5-1 loss to the Memphis Redbirds before an announced crowd of 4,255 at Chukchansi Park. First baseman Jon Singleton fouled a ball off his right ankle during the bottom of the ninth inning and immediately crashed to the ground. A trainer examined Singleton at home plate for roughly five minutes before the Grizzlies slugger got up on his own and resumed his at-bat. He struck out. Matt Duffy, who went 3 for 4, generated the Grizzlies’ lone run with an RBI single in the first inning.
Did you know?: The Grizzlies occupied first place in the PCL’s Pacific North Division with a 25-18 record entering Monday and had a five-game lead on the Sacramento River Cats (21-24). Sacramento is the San Francisco Giants’ Triple-A affiliate this year after a flurry of changes in the offseason.
Stat of the day: Since prized prospect Carlos Correa was promoted to Triple-A, the Grizzlies had won 9 of 12 games entering Monday. Between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Correa was hitting .355 with 19 doubles, two triples, nine homers, 37 runs, 39 RBIs and 18 steals.
