High school football Week 6 predictions: Tulare Union-Bakersfield Christian highlights

The Fresno Bee went 7-1 in Week 5 in its prep football game predictions — marking a big improvement on the season record.

The Bee is now 29-12.

In Week 6, The Bee is putting eight games are on the docket, including The Game of the Week between Tulare Union and Bakersfield Christian on Friday at Bob Mathias Stadium.

Both teams come into the game unbeaten.

Bakersfield Christian (4-0) at Tulare Union (4-0): This will be an excellent game and could go either way. Clearly a tough one to pick. Tulare Union 41, Bakersfield Christian 40

Farmersville (2-2) at Strathmore (2-2): Spartans coach Jeromy Blackwell always preaches “1-0, that’s all that matters.” His Spartans should win this. Strathmore 27, Farmersville 13

Parlier (1-3) at Tranquillity (1-3): It has been tough for both teams, but the Tigers picked up a win last week. That could continue this week. Tranquillity 23, Parlier 20

Washington Union (3-1) at Coalinga (3-1): The Panthers lost a tough one at home to Dinuba, now they’re back on the road. The Horned Toads rolled past Sierra Pacific 62-22. Washington Union 32, Coalinga 27

Frontier (1-3) at Clovis North (4-0): This is a big test for the Broncos despite the Titans’ record due to a tough nonleague schedule. The Broncos have been tested, too. Frontier 24, Clovis North 21

Porterville (3-1) at Exeter (2-2): Could be a very tough matchup for the Monarchs. The good news, though, is the school is one of 25 finalist schools nationwide to receive a $25,000 prize through T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights program, a nationwide competition celebrating the power of high school football to bring communities together. The money would go to renovate the stadium. Porterville 41, Exeter 20

Madera South (1-3) at Sunnyside (1-3): The Wildcats were no match for McLane. Now they welcome the Stallions. Sunnyside 27, Madera South 10

Paso Robles (2-3) at Buchanan (4-0): The Bears could enter Tri-River Athletic Conference play undefeated. It’s likely they will. Buchanan 34, Paso Robles 17
