The Clovis North football team rebounded in a big way after dropping its last game last week.
The Bee’s third-ranked Broncos made sure there wouldn’t be a repeat performance Friday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The defending Central Section Division I champions scored often in a 52-13 victory over No. 19 Central Valley Christian in a nonleague high school football game.
In fact, the Broncos broke the game open for good in the second quarter, outscoring CVC 28-0 after a 14-6 first quarter lead.
Leading the way for Clovis North was senior running back McKay Madsen.
All he did was carry the ball 19 times and ran for 218 yards and four touchdowns.
It just wasn’t the ground game that proved to give the Cavaliers problems.
Clovis North’s passing attack was too much, too.
Broncos quarterback Lucas Smith completed 7 of 7 for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
Tyree Sams had two receiving touchdowns and finished with 86 yards.
Clovis North was coming off a 35-6 loss to JSerra-Catholic.
The Broncos (3-1) will look to keep the momentum going in a game against Los Alamitos (3-1) at 1 p.m. Sept. 21 at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
