More cartwheels for Jim Harbaugh? Central’s Xavier Worthy verbally commits to Michigan

Jim Harbaugh is probably doing more cartwheels.

That is because Central High speedster Xavier Worthy verbally committed to Michigan on Friday afternoon on Instagram LIVE.

The wide receiver made his commitment from his home in Fresno west of Highway 99.

“Just enjoying the process and taking it all in and picking what’s best for me,” Worthy said. “The relationships I’ve built with the receivers, and I have a strong relationship with Giles Jackson. I just had a great vibe and a great bond with the offensive coordinator, receivers coach and the head coach. It just felt like home after that.”

Worthy informed Harbaugh of his decision to play at Michigan. He saw a familiar face on the other side in Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh.

Worthy, rated a four-star football recruit by 247Sports, had 19 offers.

He narrowed his top six to Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Louisiana State, Michigan and Oregon.

In May, Harbaugh and his assistants did cartwheels after four-star linebacker Jaydon Hood committed to the Wolverines.

Worthy, listed at 6-foot-1, will give Michigan a threat on the offensive side.

He is coming off a junior season when he had 55 receptions for 995 yards and 16 touchdowns and helped Central to a Division 1-AA state championship with a 34-19 victory over Sierra Canyon-Chatsworth.

Worthy said when he thinks of Michigan, the player who comes to mind is former Raiders and Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson.

Worthy said he is eager to play in “The Big House,” the Wolverines’ 107,601-seat stadium in Ann Arbor.

“I just want to go out there and win championships,” he said. “I can’t wait.”
