In a packed gym at San Joaquin Memorial, the Panthers and Bullard High boys basketball teams gave fans a treat.

How about double overtime? That is exactly what happened between the County/Metro Athletic Conference rivals.

And this time the Knights got the upper hand.

Bullard trailed 84-83 in the second overtime after a 3-pointer by Sajiin Sidhu, but the Knights’ Dalen Felder made a layup with 5.6 seconds remaining to seal the game in an 86-84 victory.

Both teams share the County/Metro Athletic Conference title at 5-1. Earlier in the season, Memorial won 62-57 at Bullard.

“It was an unbelievable game,” Bullard coach Tim Amundsen said. “Very tough to play there. They’re a very good team. I knew we could win, but I mean, they’re very good as well. High-level games. The crowd was rocking; the student sections were rocking. It was so much fun.

“So many plays were made by kids on both teams. It was just awesome, and our kids never quit, man. I won’t sleep tonight. I’ll be at school with no sleep.”

Both teams will find out where they will be seeded in the Central Section Division I playoffs when pairings are announced Thursday.
