Riley Grealy has been a consistent hitter for Courtney Dale’s Clovis North softball team.

It was no surprise what she did for the Broncos Saturday night at Margie Wright Diamond.

She went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs and pitcher Jocelynn Gonzalez pitched a six-hitter in Clovis North’s 6-2 victory over Buchanan.

“We are really proud of this team and how they played this year,” Clovis North coach Courtney Dale said. “We came out tonight and hit the ball hard and made tough defensive plays, and held them to six hits. We took advantage of our opportunities and scored early in the game. It was a great team win.”

The win gives the Broncos their third section title in school history, according to section historian Bob Barnett.

Clovis North wasted no time in scoring three runs in the first inning.

Zoey Thomas, Grealy and Gonzalez each drove a run in the first inning.

That was all Gonzalez would need as Buchanan didn’t get runs until the sixth and seventh innings.

For the season, Grealy hit. 373 in 97 plate appearances. She also drove in 24 runs.

Baseball: Torres’ big inning wins section title

Mendota was three outs away from winning a section title.

Torres said no to that and scored eight runs in the seventh inning that included two throwing errors, leading to two runs to tie the game and the Toros got the lead on Juan Gill’s run-scoring single en route to a 10-6 victory at Valley Strong Ballpark in Visalia in a VI championship game.

Torres defeated Mendota 10-6 in a Central Section Division VI baseball game at Valley Strong Ballpark in Visalia on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

Mendota starting pitcher Brandon Lopez pitched six innings before Ryan Preciado relieved him in the seventh inning. Preciado ran into trouble before Lopez was re-inserted in the seventh.

It is Torres’ first section title.
