Liberty-Madera Ranchos coach Keith Davis is going to savior this Central Section title for a long time.

His players sure did, as they hugged their championship plaque after No. 5-seed Liberty-Madera Ranchos defeated No. 7 Pioneer Valley 12-6 in the Central Section Division III title game at Margie Wright Diamond.

It was the Hawks’ first section title since 2012.

“We’ve been telling these girls since the beginning: ‘Just trust the process; believe in it,’” Davis said. “They earned this. They went out day in and day out and worked hard and executed.”

Senior Ari Aguayo went 3 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Liberty broke the game open for good with eight runs in the fifth inning.

Macie Webster pitched an eight-hitter and had five strikeouts.

“I couldn’t be more proud of these kids,” Davis said. “I had a good senior group last year. It was tough to follow, and not too many people thought we’d be here, but they believed in themselves.”

Torres hoists championship

Torres scores 13 runs in the third inning to pull away for a 16-9 victory over Roosevelt in the Division VI title game.

The Rough Riders tried to rally, but the Toros kept Roosevelt in check.

Corcoran wins baseball title

What a way to win a section title in Andy Shaw’s first-year as coach.

The fourth-seeded Panthers scored eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings to mercy-rule No. 2 Shafter 18-6 to claim the D-V title.

It is Corcoran’s third title in school history and the first since 2012.

Kingsburg falls short in D-II

No. 5 Ridgeview scored two runs in the fourth inning to defeat No. 2 Kingsburg 2-0.
