It came down to the final seconds between Central and San Joaquin Memorial in the CIF Northern California Regional in Division III.

The second-seeded Grizzlies were up 34-32 with 11.7 seconds remaining and Keytonna Ross was at the free throw line.

She missed both free throws, but Ross got the rebound on a tip before she was fouled after 10 seconds went off the clock.

It was too late for the No. 7-seed Panthers as the Grizzlies held on for the win on Thursday night.

Memorial had trailed 32-21 after Audrey Boyer’s 3-pointer with 2 minutes remaining.

Central moves on to face No. 14 Caruthers at 7 p.m. Saturday in the regional semifinals.

The Blue Raiders defeated Heritage-Brentwood 44-40.

Buzzer beater

No. 3 Valley Christian-San Jose tied the game at 66 against No. 6 Bullard.

There was plenty of time left for the Knights and they took advantage when Kyshawn Johnson caught an air ball and scored the game-winning basket off the backboard at the buzzer for a 68-66 victory.

The Knights will face No. 2 Justin Siena-Napa on Saturday.
