Parlier’s Evan Torres voted The Fresno Bee prep Athlete of the Week for Sept. 12-17

Evan Torres of Parlier High cross country team won The Fresno Bee’s Athlete of the Week for Sept. 12-17.

Torres finished with 7,207 votes (74%).

He came in first with a time of 16:05.00 in the 5,000 meters race at the Orange Cove Invitational.

Placing second was Alexis Barriga of Torres volleyball who had 1,276 votes (13%).

Eighteen Fresno-area high school athletes were nominated drawing from cross country, gymnastics, tennis, water polo and girls volleyball.

Previous winners were Stephanie Sanchez of Fowler volleyball, Jordyn Kwalwasser of Clovis East volleyball, Jazzy Vargas of Madera South volleyball and Nailea Fields of Caruthers volleyball.
