Central High handed Buchanan its first loss in in the Tri-River Athletic Conference this season, but the Bears remain The Bee’s top-ranked team in the section.

The Bears, which had a 15-game winning streak snapped, still took 2 of 3 from the Grizzlies.

Central had a big performance by Ryan Spalliero, who struck out eight with one earned run in six innings as the Grizzlies defeated Buchanan 6-3.

Despite losing twice to Buchanan, Central moved up one spot to No. 12.

Buchanan will face No. 2 Clovis West this week in a three-game series with the Tri-River Athletic Conference on the line.

The Bears and Golden Eagles are each 8-1 and open the series at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Buchanan.

There were other changes in the rankings beyond No. 10 listed below.
